Annual Conference

The Heartland Global Health Consortium (HGHC) is entering its 11th year and its annual conference will take place on November 15th, 2019 at Mercy College of Health Sciences' Sullivan Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

 

 

The goal of this conference is to establish a meaningful dialogue among health professionals, educators, and researchers by focusing on health access. The conference will examine rights, risks and barriers to healthcare and public health resources, and explore the impact on global health. There will be opportunities to examine best practices, evidence-based research, advocacy efforts, and strategies for addressing barriers faced by health professions.

 

 

Registration is open! Advanced registration is highly recommended for all attendees. Limited on-site registration will be available as space allows.

Call for Poster

Posters may be submitted by students or faculty. Only students will be considered for poster awards. Student posters will be judged in 2 categories (original research and literature reviews) and at two levels within each category (undergraduate and graduate). The poster session is intended to be conversational. At least one presenter is required to be onsite at their designated poster session time.

Poster abstract submissions should include:

 

  • Title of Poster Be creative (12-word maximum)

  • Brief Narrative Description of Poster Content (Narrative should be 3-5 sentences)

  • List 2-3 Learning Objectives What do you want the attendees to learn/understand by reading your poster?

  • List Poster Author(s) and Contact Information Name; Degrees/Credentials; Organization/School; Title; Phone; and E-mail Address

  • List Poster Presenter(s) and Contact Information Name; Degrees/Credentials; Organization/School; Title; Address; City; State; Zip Code; Phone; and E-mail Address

Call for nominations

This year, the Heartland Global Health Consortium will be honoring a member of the Iowa Global Health community with our first-ever Heartland Global Health Advocate Award.

At this time we are soliciting nominations for any Iowa-based global health researcher, practitioner, and/or advocate who has made a significant impact on global health research, practice or policy during their career.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

 

Submission deadline EXTENDED: October 1, 2019

 

Nominations should include:

 

  • A description of the nominee's contribution to global health (250 words)

  • A summary of why they deserve this award (100 words)

  • A brief biography (250 words)
